[Edit: Superceded by this.]

I have taken down all of the blog entries related to the "Himmmm" controversy. I have no idea whether the guy who is alleged to have posted the comments on CDAN is angry because he's being impersonated online, or because he's a complete froot loop throwing a tantrum, but in any case this is much more important to him than it ever was to me. I've got plenty of other things to talk about, and this is not worth the stress or the nightmares of impatient gossip-commenters and angry lawyers meeting on my front porch and teaming up to bang down my door.

I would like to make it clear that there was never any malicious intent involved in anything I posted; that I have repeatedly pointed out that this entire blog hosts my opinion only and that any conclusions I tentatively drew were explicitly predicated on the information being fed to me being accurate; and that, if it is the case that someone's impersonating him online, I had no reasonable way to know that the poster wasn't who he said he was. I'm still getting people asking me to comment on stuff like I'm an expert and it's making me progressively more uncomfortable, so I am just throwing in the towel and taking it all offline.

Please feel free to peruse the rest of my blog; I do post on social psychology and linguistic analysis in the general case, and I take reasonable requests via comments, my G+ profile, or the email address miss.arabella.flynn@gmail.com. 1. The world makes little sense when an anonymous amalgam of people posing as a single comment poster can issue a CDAN for online commentary through a possible imposter. To be sure, I think you made the right call, but still...what a world.

    1. The main reason is that it was just getting to be un-fun. I don't think the C&D has any merit at all, particularly as he was demanding that all the "Himmmm" commentary be taken down at the same time as he was protesting that he had nothing to do with any of the postings. But I was getting people who wanted me to dig and dig and dig and argue and evaluate and argh. No longer amusing.

So I went off and finished series two of Sherlock instead. After so many people twittering, "omg figure out how he did it!" I thought it would be harder. Just some standard stage magic, and Sherlock, per the usual, coming up with a plan that was only slightly less dangerous than what he was trying to avoid.

    1. I'll still post on other things. I'm swamped with work right now, but this weekend I'll put up more things.

Sei italiano? La tua punteggiatura non è in stile inglese. In inglese, non ci sono spazi tra la fine di una frase e la punteggiatura finale. Piccole cose si può dire molto sulla lingua nativa di una dattilografa. :)
